FACILITY MANAGEMENT 2004

Copenhagen Conference
The Danish Facilities Management Association (DFM) hosted 350 delegates to the EuroFM Conference in Copenhagen last week (12-14 May), the largest and probably the most successful European FM Conference to date. Not only were delegates provided with a full two day programme of plenary and parallel sessions, but they were also able to enjoy the festivities surrounding the wedding of Crown Prince Fredrik of Denmark to his Australian born wife, Mary Donaldson, which took place in Copenhagen on the final day of the conference.
EuroFM Chairman Lionel Prodgers congratulated the DFM team led by its chairman, Ole Emil Malmstrom, for their hard work.
The event attracted delegates from 18 European countries as well as the USA, Australia, Nigeria and Malaysia. Two thirds, some 240 delegates, came from the five Nordic countries of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland.
Delegates shared experience of major FM outsourcing deals and the progress of the PFI model across Europe for public sector projects.

Student posters
An innovation at the Copenhagen conference was the inclusion of a student poster competition. Students from across Europe entered and attended the conference. The winner was Thomas Frambach from the University of Applied Sciences, Berlin for his poster presentation of a real life analysis of the integration of mobile FM and ERP systems.
