Education Network Group

The aim of the Education Network Group is to act as a platform, from which mutual interest and support can be exchanged. This is targeted towards group members and non-members who deal with FM education in the broadest sense of the word.
As one of the three focus groups of EuroFM, the Education Network Group will develop plans and activities in close harmony with the other two groups in order to be the leading authority within FM education.
As well as being a party of active members, the Education Network Group is a virtual party of people exchanging educational ideas via e-mail.
To cover a broad range of issues, the Education Network Group will consist of ‘task groups’ which will focus on different topics.
The Education Network Group consists of educators, students and people with an educational interest in academic tuition as well as training for FM practice.
Apart from organising forums which will be held at the annual EuroFM conference, the Education Network Group will develop various projects.
The agenda for these will be drafted by the Education Network Group in approval with EuroFM as a whole. These two media will support European Education of FM principles and standards and a focus group will be a liaison between European FM courses.

Role:

• The role, or function, of the Education Network Group within EuroFM is to enable EuroFM to set standards of education in FM throughout Europe.
• To facilitate an active education network in Europe reflecting the integrated approach to FM education, research and practice.
• To assist education establishments in the drafting of their FM curriculum, and to guide FM students to study with EuroFM Member universities.
• To encourage and facilitate student exchange between EuroFM Member universities, international exchange of study groups, Europe wide internships with companies and universities and discussion programmes for FM students.

Objectives:

• To develop in the long term (5 years) a fully operable audit process for education standards in facilities management.
• To work towards a European qualification in facilities management through training and under / post graduate courses.
• To develop a handbook in facilities management to facilitate international exchange and to bridge language and cultural barriers.

Success Criteria:

• Increased measure of activity of Education Network Group participants.
• Recognition of one European title for FM (under)graduates.
• A measurable increase in the numbers of students exchanged with the help of the Education Network Group.
• An increase in the number of entries for the Education Forum at annual conferences.
• An increase in the number of entries for the FM student Award.
